Mary was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 21, 1913, the daughter of George and Anna Rotz. She and her husband, John Groza moved from California to Georgia in 1987 to be closer to their son, Tim. She was a retired clerk with the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles. She graduated from Froebel High School in Gary, Indiana. Mary was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church in Hiawassee.

Mary loved and served the Lord with all her heart, mind, and soul. She was a woman who exemplified that love, comfort, peace and caring to everyone she met in life. She was very devoted to her Lord and Savior and her family, and lived life to the fullest.

As a faithful Christian, Mary served in churches in all the places she lived. She taught children's Bible study and Sunday school classes for years. But most of all she was a loving wife to her husband John. They were married for 66 years. She accompanied her husband John on the piano in many churches as he served as the music director. In her early years Mary and her husband were involved in various ministries both within and outside the church, including a Romanian Baptist Church radio program in Chicago from 1935-1938.

A memorial service in her honor will be held in Conyers, Georgia at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 235, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
