The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces a Memorial Gathering for Mrs. Alberta Downing Bierce, age 80, of Young Harris, Georgia, who passed away at her home on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Alberta was born January 24, 1934 in Charlotte County, Florida to the late Clarence Leroy & Dorothy Lee (Parsley) Downing. A loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She loved to call the mountains her home and resided here for the last 30 years.
She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: husband, Billy Bierce; children, Betsy Gammon, Ronda & Ken "Spike" Kremblas and Ronald Bierce; brother & sister-in-law, Frank & Sarah Downing; brother, Joes Downing; sister & brother-in-law, Dottie & Floyd Davis and sisters, Claudia Rogers and Gerry Twigg. Also, sharing in her legacy are 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great- great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and friends. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Claude Robert Downing and a sister, Reba Barker.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Room of Mayor's Park in Young Harris on Sunday, January 25, 2015. Friends are encouraged to come and share special memories during this time with the family.
