Tzuchuen "Annie" Chen of McCaysville, Georgia, passed away July 17, 2012 at age 29 with her family by her side at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Annie fought a lifelong battle with beta thalassemia and its complications. A graveside service is planned for Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. at Crestlawn Cemetery in McCaysville, Georgia.
Annie was born on May 7, 1983 in Taiwan. She moved to the United States at the age of 8 in 1991. She graduated from Fannin County High School in 2003 and then attended Kennesaw State University, majoring in Chemistry.
Annie is survived by her mother, Chiu Hung Lo; her father, Kuang Beng Chen; her older sister, Yichuen (Jenny) Chen; and her younger brother, Weichuen (Woody) Chen.
Annie was adored by all that met her. She was a vibrant, colorful individual with a witty, sweet personality. Her sister, Jenny, describes Annie as "sugar and spice!" Annie loved Gerber daisies, orchids, and anything pink. Throughout her life, she had many hobbies, including jewelry making, photography, and baking. Despite her fight with beta thalassemia for 29 years, Annie always possessed a bigger than life attitude and remained truly optimistic. Annie was known to her family and friends as "Tiny Bit." Annie's favorite quotes reflected her zest for life and wit such as, "Life is short, don't eat too much bread." She enjoyed playful banter with those she loved most, often telling her sister, "I was born to give you common sense."
Annie and her family created a charitable foundation called Annie's Hope Foundation. In lieu of flowers, please donate to this foundation at 3417 Clubside Court NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
