Mr. Gene B. Stiles, age 73, of Murphy, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Mr.Stiles was born in Gastonia, NC to the late Herschel Elmer Stiles and Hattie Caroline Nix Stiles. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, member of the Murphy Rotary Club and a member and active Deacon of First Baptist Church of Murphy.
Survivors include: his wife, Josephine Stiles of the home; son, Kenny Stiles of Marble, NC, and son & daughter-in-law, Mark and Marsha Stiles of Hayesville, NC; grandson, Zach Stiles, grandson, Chris Stiles and step-granddaughter, Julianna Caudle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Murphy with Rev. Rick Edwards officiating. Eulogies will be given by Mark Stiles, Kenny Stiles and Zach Stiles. Music will be provided by the Path Finders and Debbie Prescott. The body will lie instate from 2:00 until 2:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Maltby Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by local veteran organizations. Pallbearers will be Darryl Stiles, Derek Stiles, Chuck Mallonee, Zach Stiles, Chris Stiles and G.W. Hendrix. Honorary Pallbearers will be First Baptist Church Sunday School Class Fellowship II.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
