Barbara Farner Hughes, age 76, of Murphy, NC passed away January 14, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Hughes was born on April 7, 1933 in Cherokee County to the late E.C. and Wilda Davis Farner. She was a member of Tomalta Baptist Church and had retired from Clifton Precision. She was preceded in death by, daughter, Patricia Gail Hughes and husband, W.H. Hughes, Jr.
Survivors include: daughter, Sherry (Jim) Palmer of Murphy, Sisters, Jean (Paul) Lovingood, Deloroes (J.V.) Pace, Louise (Rev. Charlie) Stalcup, Judy (Rev. Warren) Hall, Brothers, L.T. (Helen) Farner, Fess (Mary) Farner, Dale (Late wife Frances) Farner, granddaughters, Jennifer (Boyce, Jr.) Rogers, Amanda Palmer, great granddaughters, Heather Rogers, Haley Rogers, Izabella Rogers and Mollie Rogers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 3:00 PM from the Tomotla Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Stiles officiating. Pallbearers will be David Stalcup, Danny Stalcup, Dean Farner, Eddie Farner, Jerry Farner, Bobby Pace. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Lovingood and Clinton Hardin. Burial will follow in the Tomalta Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
