Betty Butt

Betty Ann Davidson Butt passed away on Tuesday morning, February 18, 2014 at the age of 75 at Chatuge Regional Hospital after a short illness. She had been a resident of the Hayesville House in Hayesville, NC for the past 2.5 years.

Betty was born on January 15, 1939 in the BellView Community of Cherokee County, NC to Grady and Maggie Smith Davidson. She married Robert Butt of Union County, GA in 1957. She was employed as a Nurse and EMT at Union General Hospital for over 35 years. During her career there she served in many capacities including Labor and Delivery, as an EMT and as an Emergency Room Nurse. She was well known for her kindness and compassion towards her patients and their loved ones.

She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: two sons and their wives: James and Lisa (Lovell) Butts of Tiger, GA, Jeff and Kathy (Lance) Butt of Young Harris, GA. A grandson, Logan Butts and a granddaughter, Morgan Butts. Two sisters and a brother in law: Cleo Mauney of Gastonia, NC and Carol & Newt Miller of Blairsville, GA . Several nieces and nephews and extended family members also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Butt, her parents, a sister, Evelyn Barnette and a brother, Frank B. Davidson.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Potts officiating. Interment will follow at Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: David Miller, Joel Miller, Jason Miller, Logan Butts, Bud Davidson and Golly Easter. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
