Mr. Carl Brown, age 76, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Brown was born on Friday, January 25, 1935, in West Carthage, New York, to the late Henry and the late Merril W. Brown. He graduated West Carthage High School, Class of 1954. Mr. Brown joined the United States Marine Corp in January of 1955 and served through 1959, attaining the rank of Sargeant. (H&S Company 1st Infantry Regiment, of the Marine Corp Battalion.) He was stationed at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, where he founded the Sea Urchins Skin Diving Club, which eventually was formalized to do search and recovery for the criminal investigation department. (CID). Mr. Brown retired from Stromberg Carlson Rochester, New York, and managed Edar Marine, of New Port Richey, Florida. He was also a real estate agent in St. Petersburg, Florida.Mr. Brown was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was a member of Chatuge Gun Club. He was a great sports enthusiast, and had played semi-pro football and baseball. Mr. Brown was of the Protestant belief.

Preceding Mr. Brown in death besides his parents, was a son, George Brown; a great grandson, Kingston Isaiah Barbour; a sister: Suzanne Rodriguez; a brother, William Brown; and a nephew, James Rodriguez, Jr.

He is survived by and lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia Stoddard Brown, of Blairsville, formerly of Carthage, New York; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Nancy Brown, of Blairsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Michael Butler, of St. Petersburg, Florida and Carla and Thomas Brunk, of Dade City, Florida; and daughter Marnie Rivieccio, of St. Petersburg. Nine grandchildren: Jeffrey Brown, Kimberly Brown, Jamie Coleman, Chris Butler, Carrie Butler, Samantha Casagni, Thomas Brunk, Suzanne Barbour, and Amanda Rivieccio. Many friends and other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 6 p.m., at Ft. DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg, Florida, with Rev. Justin Barbour officiating. Interment will be in the Gulf of Mexico.
