Cathy Payne

Cathy Jean Payne, age 60 of Blairsville, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at Union General Hospital. Ms. Payne was born December 11, 1954 in Young Harris, GA to John Paul and Martha Seabolt Payne. Cathy was always an athletic person. She loved playing Softball and horseshoes. Cathy also enjoyed camping and fishing. She was a loving and generous person, always ready to help others. Cathy was preceded in death by her father, John Paul Payne and nephew, Brent Grizzle.

Survivors include: mother, Martha Payne Fortenberry, daughter, Kia (Rodney Maurer) Williams, son, Kyle Williams, Brother, Jerry (Dean) Payne, Brother, Glenn (Lizzie) Payne, sister, Doris (James) Bridges, sister, Janie (Ronnie) Dyer and grandson, Lucas Matthew Maurer.

Funeral services: Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Jerry Karnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bryan Mason, Ralph Gillespie, Jarred Garrett, Eric Collins, David Gowder, Raymond Mason, Avery Mason.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Monday, March 16, 2015, 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to help offset expenses.
