Mr. Chancy "C.J." Yurchis, age 80 of Murphy, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Life Care Center of Copper Basin in Ducktown, TN. Mr. Yurchis was born August 31, 1930 in Bloomingdale, IN to the late John and the late Margarett Brower Yurchis.
Mr. Yurchis moved to the Murphy area four years ago. He was a United States Air Force Korean War veteran, he served our country for twenty five years, at retirement he was a E-7 Master Sergeant.
Mr. Yurchis enjoyed his life by serving God and loving his family. Golfing, fishing and Gardening were his hobbies. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Fay Golden Yurchis of the home, daughter, Melanie Kelley and companion Gary Lee of Murphy son & daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dewi Yurchis of Tampa, FL. son, Greg Yurchis of Tampa, FL daughter & son-in-law, Veronica and Lonnie Chesser of Tampa, FL, brother and sister in law, Max and Joann McMasters, sister, Velma (& the late William) Shannon, sister, Sandy Mankin all of Indiana, sister-in-law, Lou Forrister of Murphy, sister-in-law and husband, Ruth and John Thomas of Ohio, sister-in-law and husband, Shirley and Earl Mullins of Ohio, two grandsons, Kody Chesser, James and wife Helena Kelley all of Murphy, four granddaughters, Kaylee Chesser and Kerri Chesser of Tampa, FL, Taylor Yurchis and Lane Yurchis of Indiana, one beloved great grandson, Jimmy Kelley, a host of many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Funeral services: Monday, May 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Warren Golden and Rev. Ronnie Crisp officiating. Music was provided by the Golden Sisters and other musical selections. Interment followed in Simonds Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.. Pallbearers: Lonnie Chesser , Ned Golden, Mark Golden, Garret Golden, Jackie Arp and Bob Sprous. Honorary pallbearer, Gary Lee.
