Dr. Charles L. Dyer, Col. Ret. USAF, age 66 of Blairsville, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at his home. Dr. Dyer was born August 16, 1945 in Hall County, GA to the late Ishmael and NellieDyer.
Charles graduated from the Emory University School of Dentistry in 1972. He practiced dentistry in the United States Air Force and later served in an administrative role in Washington DC. After 30 years of service to his country, Col. Dyer retired from the Air Force and in 2002 moved back to Blairsville where he owned and operated Apalachee Angus Farm raising registered Black Angus Cattle.

Survivors include his daughters, Kendra Dyer and Carley Dyer, both of Fairfax, VA, sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Harry Poovey of Monroe, NC, Brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Jane Dyer of Calhoun, GA, sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and David Coker of Blairsville and granddaughter, Abby Dyer.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 6, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Choestoe Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry Poovey officiating with a Eulogy by Olen Pearson. The body will lie in state at the church Monday from 1 until 2 p.m.. Interment will follow in the Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force. Serving as honorary pallbearers; Allen Poovey, Dennis Berwyn, Brayden Poovey, Ted Dyer, Jeff Dyer, Jeremy Dyer, Bret Dyer, Joseph Cooper, Daniel Jones and James Cooper.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Sunday, February 05, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
