Dale Gillespie Holmes

Mr. Dale Gillespie Holmes, age 91 of Murphy, NC and Falmouth. MA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 24, 2015. Mr. Holmes was born January 26, 1924, in Portland, ME to the late Henry William Holmes and the late Ruby Pearl Gillespie Holmes. He graduated high school in Falmouth, MA, a Navy Veteran serving on the USS Antietam during WW II , and a Marine Diesel Mechanic. He was a member of Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church. He loved sailing and built his own 18 ft sail boat. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Holmes, Jimmy Holmes, Kenny Holmes and Tommy Holmes, and sisters, Maxine Holmes and Muriel Holmes.

Survivors include: wife, Joyce Oldham Holmes, sons, Richard D. (Cindy) Oldham, Mark (Susan) Oldham, DVM, Todd L. (Amy) Oldham, sisters, Doris Stewart, Carolyn Bauman, Sandra Holmes, grandchildren, Tyler Oldham, Michael M. Oldham, Kyleen E. Oldham, Kerstin Oldham, Crystle Logan, Daniel Deveau, Amanda Ellis, Pete Ellis, great grandchildren, Lily Powers and James Powers several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 2:00PM from Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Chester Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Friday 1 to 2 PM

Interment will be Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11:00 am in Bourne National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
