Danny Barnes

May 6, 1952 — August 29, 2016

Daniel Alvin Barnes of Blue Ridge entered into rest on August 29, 2016, at the age of 64. He was born on May 6, 1952, to the late Roland Barnes, Jr. and JoAnn Collins Barnes Deaver in Young Harris, Georgia.
Danny was a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard. He spent most of his adult life living and working in the Atlanta area before retiring back to Blue Ridge in 2008. He was a craftsman builder and would oversee the construction of as many as 130 houses at one time.
Danny was a quiet, kindhearted, and gentle man who would help anyone in need. He was a great animal lover but most particularly he loved cats and cat rescue, caring for and feeding a large number of cats at one time. He loved motorcycles, drag racing, and watching sports.
He was preceded in death by his Father Roland Barnes, Jr., and his niece Alison Stansel. He is survived by his wife Kay Panter Barnes, Mother JoAnn Collins Barnes Deaver, sisters Karen Patterson (Phillip McGlamery), Cathy (david) Doster, and Cindy (Paul) Goad, and nephew Sam Stansel (Brittany Martin).
Danny will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Ga. You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest register at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com
