Davis Shannon Morgan

Mr. Davis Shannon Morgan, age 87, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.
Mr. Morgan was born Monday, April 17, 1922 in East Point, Fulton County, GA to the late William Daniel and Leith Shannon Morgan. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia's School of Forestry. He was a member of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris, a WWII Army-Air Force Veteran and a Mason. He retired from the City of East Point as a civil engineer, and in 1986 he and his wife moved to Young Harris where he continued surveying for several years before fully retiring.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Jane Ramsey Morgan of Hiawassee, GA; son & daughter-in-law Shan and Cindy Morgan (Jr.), of Sharpsburg, GA; son Frank Ramsey Morgan of Jonesboro, GA; daughter & son-in-law Leith Morgan and O'Neil Tate of Montreat, NC; daughter & son-in-law Martha Morgan and Rick Ullrich of Norcross, GA; brother Dr. Thomas E. Morgan of Lawrenceville, GA; six grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and five nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and internment will be Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Darris Baker officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Other arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
