Delores Heaton (Hunt)

Lena Delores (Hunt) Heaton - (Mama Dee) - Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, age 76 of Morganton passed away on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at her home. She was born December 5, 1934 in Fannin County, GA to the late Rev. Augustus (Gus) Hunt and Docia Turner Hunt. She was preceded in death by brother; Clyde Hunt, and sister; Ruby Williams.
She and her best friend Gerald met in the eighth grade, married after graduating high school, and have been inseparable until the day she died. She loved her family first and foremost and was very active in her church. Mama Dee was one of the best cooks in the South and was famous for being able to "throw together" a four-course meal in about thirty minutes. She loved to sing and play the piano and organ and did this alongside her husband Gerald and her church family at New Hope Baptist Church every week. Mama Dee was always supportive of her children in their accomplishments and their failures and was a great example of the unconditional love that comes from no one other than Jesus Christ.

Survivors include: husband; Gerald Heaton, son; Phillip (Marti) Heaton, daughter; Stacey (Greg) Gilreath, granddaughters; Jillene Gilreath and Katelan Gilreath, sister; Myrtle Davenport, Brother; Robert Hunt.

Funeral services: Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A. J. Heaton and Rev. Buddy Pittman officiating. Music provided by: Marilyn Thomas, Highway 76, Stacy Gilreath, Debbie Cochran and Judy Williams. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Monday, February 20, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
