Dobie Brackett

January 28, 1940 — June 7, 2014

Mrs. Eudora Jane "Dobie" Brackett, age 74 of Blairsville who passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014.

Dobie was born in Blairsville on January 28, 1940 to the late Cecil & Willene (Jackson) Rich. She was a long time and faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Union County where she supported ministries such as the MAC and Youth Activities. With sacrificial love, She devoted her life to her family. While Dobie lived a very blessed life, she also endured great loss. She lost her eight-year-old son, Jamey, to leukemia when she was 32 and her husband in an accident at 57. Dobie exemplified strength, perseverance, and faith, while serving as the self-proclaimed "monarch" of the family. Countless friends of the family considered her their unofficial "grandmama" and they were always welcome in her home. She enjoyed spending time gardening and fishing.

She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: daughters & sons-in-law, Danita & Kem Stephens, Dinah & Scott Carter, Dana & Chris Robbins and Dale & Curtis Dyer; and sisters, Jackie Colwell & Claudine Thomas. Also, sharing in her legacy are grandchildren: Tiffany, Courtney & Brody Stephens; Cason, Corbin & Camryn Carter; Braedyn, Kobi & Kyler Robbins; and Austin, Keaton & Lani Dyer. Dobie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, James A. Brackett, Jr. and her son, James "Jamey" Cecil Brackett.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Union County with Rev. Eddie Herring and Rev. Mark Burgess officiating. Special music will be presented by Elizabeth Plott, Scott Lance and Kim Thomas. Mrs. Brackett's grandsons will have the honor to serve as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
