Elliott Sanders

Mr. Elliott Sanders, age 82, of Hiawassee, passed away early Friday morning August 5, 2016 in Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee.

Elliott was born on December 24, 1933 to the late Cecil Charles Sanders and Margaret Stroud Sanders, and nine brothers and sisters, of whom four are still living. Elliott was a quite man who didn't talk a whole lot until he got to know you and when he did talk, people listened because he knew what he was talking about. He loved to fish and very seldom missed a year of going to Colorado or Wyoming trout fishing or down to the Gulf to deep sea fish with his brothers and good friends. Elliott spent 25 years at Chatuge Regional Hospital as an electrician and maintenance supervisor until he retired and then spent 7 years with United Community Bank as a courier. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Golda Eller Sanders; daughter, Penny Phillips, husband Val; daughter, Tracy Caudell, husband Greg; brother, Frazier Sanders, wife Connie; brother, Junior Sanders, wife Estelle; sister, Pam Ayers; sister, Sherlline Rogers, husband Joe; (6) Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Elliott was pre-deceased by his parents Cecil and Margaret; daughter, Kelly Sanders; son, Rodney Sanders; also sister, Norene Barrett; brother, Sherlock Sanders; sister, Laverse Sanders; brother, Dale Sanders; brother, Jerry Sanders.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee. Burial was in Boyd's Chapel Cemetery in Hiawassee. Visitation was held on Saturday, starting at 2:00 p.m., until the funeral service began. Rev. Glen Eller officiated the service and Sheila Eller provided the music.
