Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death of Mrs. Emma Berenguer of Tiger, Georgia, formerly of Hayesville, North Carolina, who passed away on Tuesday, June 30th, 2020 at her home in Tiger.
Mrs. Berenguer was born in New York City, New York, and was a daughter of the late Julio Acosta and the late Laura Linares Acosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix; a son, Felix, Jr.; and a sister-in-law Elsie Berenguer. She had been employed as a salesperson of Alexander's Department Store in New York.
Mrs. Berenguer loved to laugh, and she was a very happy-go-lucky type of person. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Surviving family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Robert Fonzo, of Hayesville; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Steven Morales of Orlando, Florida; daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Berenguer, of
Garnerville, New York; grandchildren: Alexa Berenguer, Jason Fonzo, Gregory Fonzo, Steven Morales, Jr., and Erica Morales.
Memorial services will be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, and will be scheduled at a later date.
