Emma Marie Young

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces graveside services for Mrs. Emma Marie Young, age 92, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 5, 2014.

Emma Marie Young was Born in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on January 28, 1921, a daughter of the late Bert Alva Morris and Nettie Faye (Caldwell) Morris. Although she came from humble beginnings, her impact on those who were fortunate enough to know her was tremendous. Emma was a devout Christian who led her life in that manner. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who always brought joy to her family and many loyal friends. Her guiding light as a Mother cast a glow that will never fade away. She was a stout disciplinarian, but always provided her children with the love and support they needed. Creating memories that will be treasured always. As both of her Sons served their country, she faithfully sent letters of encouragement. Proud to be a Grandmother and to see her grandchildren graduate college and forge lives for themselves in the world. She had been preceded in death by her dear husband, Howard Stephen Young. Together, they managed their own photography studio and enjoyed capturing memories for others to experience.

She was an avid reader and highly intelligent. Her knowledge and awareness of world affairs never waned even at her advanced age. Emma approached life with sincere and genuine concern for others. She possessed the courage of her convictions and was never afraid to share these convictions. She had a unique ability to make friends with ease and skillfully listen to others points of view. Of all her virtues, the most impressive was the example she set for tolerance, acceptance, and concern for the welfare of family and friends. She lived her life as a Christian and set a strong example of strength and devotion to all who knew and loved her. Emma 's life journey has left behind a distinct trail of good will.

Emma will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her loving family: son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carol Young; son, Stephen Young; and grandchildren, Laura, Alison and Jason. 3 Great Grandsons also share in her enduring legacy.

Graveside services have been scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville, with Pastor Doug Smith officiating.
