Ray was born in Union County, Georgia on February 19, 1927, one of nine children in the household. His family lived in the Young Cane area where his father operated a store . Eventually, they moved to Blairsville to expand the family's merchant business. Ray volunteered for the Army when he was 17 years old and was sent to fight for his country during World War II. Ray had a big heart and would stand to help anyone. Ray had been an active member of both the Methodist Church for 88 years and in the Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114 where he received his 70 years apron this past year. He leaves behind: his loving wife of 72 years, Mamie Townsend Rogers; son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Jerri Rogers; daughter & son-in-law, Kay & Milton Bradley; brother, Tommy Rogers; and sister, Louise Lance. Also, sharing in his legacy are three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Randall Rogers and Roberta Seabolt Rogers; five brothers; and one sister.
