Freddie Hancock

Freddie Hancock, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all who knew him, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 at the age of 76. Freddie was born in Murphy, NC to Ellard and Edith Ledford Hancock on June 19, 1935. He was a member, caretaker, and Deacon of Kingtown Baptist Church in McCaysville, a retired railroad worker and he also worked with Wolfcreek Builders. He was preceded in death by brother, Jesse Hancock, W.E. Junior Hancock and Homer Hancock.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Bennie Sue Hancock, daughter, Mary Jo (Greg) Towe, sisters, Nola Bell, Lura Walker, Rosie Mae Harris & Willa Mae Ballew, granddaughter, Nichole Davenport, step grandson, Jason Towe, step granddaughter, Jennifer Ellington, 8 great grandchildren; Keaton Towe, Jada Ellington, Karder Towe, Korben Towe, Barron Davenport, Kadence Ellington, Kennah Towe & Braylee Davenport.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 4:00pm at the Kingtown Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Elliott, Rev. Gary Parris & Rev. Travis Davenport officiating. Music by Connie Grindstaff and Sandy Lohr. Interment will follow in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Tim Towe, Todd Towe, Donnie Kendall, Jason Towe, Jeremy Buchanan and Wesley Davenport. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Hancock, Phil Hurst, Marty Godfrey, Cecil Arp, Michael Buchanan, David Messer, Jimmy Hopkins, Jr., Doug Addington & Ben Addington.

The family will receive friends at the Finch Cochran Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 6:00-9:00pm and will lie in state on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Kingtown Baptist Church from 3:00 until service at 4:00.
