Freed Smith

Freed Smith, age 97, of Morganton, GA, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021, in Canton, GA. Mr. Smith was born May 4, 1924 in Copperhill, TN, to the late William Rob Smith and the late Bessie Parris Smith. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Freed enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eddie Mae Bell Smith, son, Robert Green Smith, daughters, Linda Marie Smith, and Joyce Ann Smith Bryant, brother, Rasmus Smith, sisters, Elsie Smith Fisher, Ora (Smith)Smith, and LeLiar Smith Nicholson, brothers, Everett Smith, Lake Smith, and Winston Smith, and sister, Edith Pendley, grandparents, James Walter Smith and Sara Jane Smith, and great-grandparents, Leroy Smith and Mary E Smith.

Survivors include his son, Roy Raymond Smith, daughters, Betty Lou Holloway, Bertha Jean Smith Goss, son, Freed (Fred) "JR" Smith, Jr., daughters, Dorothy Griffith and Margaret Dorine Johnson, sons, James Walter Smith and Freddie Edward Smith, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services: Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins and Rev. Doyle Davis officiating. Music provided by:
Roy Smith & Cindy Echols. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers.
