George Rice

January 16, 1922 — April 6, 2010

Mr. George W. Rice, 88 years old of Mineral Bluff, GA, died Tuesday April 6, 2010 at his home.

He was born January 16, 1922 the son of the late Thomas Milton Rice and Margaret Shields Rice.

He was a US Army WW II Veteran and Purple Heart Recipent He was a member of Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, GA and a partner at Rice Lumber Company until his retirment. George enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are son & daughter-in-law, Jerry & JoAnn Rice, son & daughter-in-law, Bethel & Vondell Rice, daughter & son-in-law, Pat & Bradley Ledford, son & daughter-in-law, Freddy & Judy Rice, son & daughter-in-law, Billy & Mary Rice, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Services will be held on Saturday April 10, 2010 at 2:00PM from the Chapel of the Henry Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Buchanan officiating.

Interment will follow in the The Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 09, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home, Blue Ridge, GA.

Serving as Pallbearers: Doug Ledford, Jason Ledford, Andy Rice, Isaac Rice, Andy Rice, Ben Rice and Mark Rice. Great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Henry Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.
