Mr. Gerald Luther Hartness, age 57 of Murphy, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. Gerald was born January 17, 1956 in Murphy, NC to the late Charlie and Dorothy Ladd Hartness. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and William Hartness.
Survivors include wife, Carol Hartness of Murphy, step-mother, Shirley Hartness of Hayesville, two sons, Shepphard Lee Hartness of GA, and Gerald Shane Hartness of GA, one daughter, Barbara Ann Hartness of Bryson City, two brothers, James Hartness of Cartersville, GA and Jerry Hartness of Hayesville, one sister, Mary White of Austin, TX and one granddaughter, Ashley. Also several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
