Gladys Budelman Britt

September 18, 1925 — December 7, 2015

Mrs. Gladys Edna Britt, almost 91 years young, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015, surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 18, 1925 to Albert Budelman and Edna Rhode. Gladys attended Julliard School of Music and graduated from Concordia College of Brownsville, New York. She spent her adult years blessing others with her gifted voice, singing in weddings and church choirs. As a young woman, Gladys relocated to Miami, Florida, where she enjoyed a career with a respected insurance firm, Ledbetter-Buchannan (later known as AON Insurance) and retired as a Vice-President in 1987.

Gladys married the love of her life, Richard Britt in 1963, and enjoyed 53 beautiful and loving years. In1978, Richard inspired Gladys to pursue her family's genealogy, and together, they both continued their quest in discovering the identity of their ancestors. You can find her pedigree listed on Ancestry.com and Familysearch.org. In 1988, Richard retired and brought his bride to the peaceful North Georgia mountains, where they lived in Lakeside Village on the lovely Lake Nottely. Sadly, Gladys lost her battle with malignant melanoma cancer on December 7, 2015. Her memory will forever live in our hearts.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Britt; niece, Krissie Britt Merry of Hillsborough, NJ; nephews, Daniel Britt and Raymond K. Britt of Eustis, FL; a sister-in-law of Eustis, FL; nephew Richard W. Britt of Newark, NJ; and cousins, Joan and Kenneth Quick of Granville, NY.Her remains will be sent to Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, Mississippi, where many of Richard's deceased relatives are buried.
