It is with great sadness that the family of Gladys Louise Woody Stanley of Acworth, Ga (better known as "Nan") announces her passing after an extended illness, on Monday, April 29, 2019, at her home at the age of 84 years young surrounded by her family. Nan was born May 26, 1934, and grew up in Barberton, Ohio where she played volleyball in school. She loved to swim in Lake Anna and hang out with her best friend Noma. Growing up Gladys would spend some summers with her grandmother, Laura, in Ga where she meets the love of her life Curtis. Gladys and Curtis married December 20, 1952, and had a wonderful son and a beautiful daughter together.
Nan was known to be a very loving mother and doted over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of The Big Creek Baptist Church. She was very active in the church where her husband, Curtis, was a deacon. She was an avid reader and gardener and loved to decorate her house. She will be remembered for her generosity and for being witty. She was the best biscuit maker in the world. She was very intelligent, strong and had a special love for her family and conservative political views.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, son Rick Stanley and wife Nancy of Dallas, Ga and daughter Cindy Cole of Acworth, Ga, her 4 grandchildren, Amy Cole of Atlanta, Ga, Greg Cole of Atlanta, Ga, Matt Cole and wife Kelley of Atlanta, Ga, and Megan White and husband Matt of Acworth, Ga. She will also be missed by her 3 great-grandchildren, Harper White, Lucas Cole and Ava Cole, and also her 3 sisters, Junie Cochran and and husband Milford of St Augustine, Fl, Evelyn Scott of Barberton, Ohio and Cheryl Moss and husband Hugh of Temple, Ga, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Nan is preceded in death by her loving husband, Curtis Stanley, her parents, Emory and Ruby Woody, her brother, Jack Woody and little sister, Pearl Woody.
Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Cochran's Funeral Home in Blue Ridge, Ga. A eulogy will be conducted by her grandson Matt Cole and Rev. Max Curtis. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 6 to 8 in the evening and Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 12 to 12:45 in the afternoon at Cochran's Funeral Home in Blue Ridge, Ga. followed by a celebration of her life at 2 pm at Big Creek Baptist Church. A variety of beautiful music will be provided. She will then be laid to rest next to her husband in the church cemetery.
