Gladys Louise Atkins

Mrs. Gladys Louise Atkins, age 88, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Marietta, GA, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.
Mrs. Atkins was born Friday, December 24, 1920 in Walker Co., GA to the late Lon E. and Mary Ruth (Surrett) Pettyjohn. She was a member of Maple Avenue Methodist Church in Marietta, GA and Samuel S. Lawrence Order of Eastern Star Chapter 500. Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by husband, George Cleveland Atkins.
Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Larry Farist of Blairsville, GA, brother, Bill Pettyjohn of Marietta, GA, sister, Doris Seykora of Owatonna, MN, grandchildren, Scott Farist, Shawn & Janie Farist, and Julie & Greg Ledford all of Blairsville, GA, four great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Nugent officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m., Sunday, March 22.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
