Mrs. Grace Payne, age 100, of Blairsville, GA passed away October 27, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Payne was born on June 8, 1909 in Union County, GA, to the late J.C and Nettie (Cavender) Hunt. She was the oldest living member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She taught elementary school for 30 years and was a member of the Retired Teachers Assoc. Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by infant daughter, Nettie Virginia Payne, brothers, Bruce, Pat amd James Hayden Hunt, sisters, Myrtle Brooks and Blanche Payne.
Survivors include: husband of 72 Years, Major Payne of Blairsville, GA; daughter & son-in-law; Blanche & Jimmy Huddleston of Blairsville, GA; grandchildren, Daryl Norwood and Curt Norwood of KY; step grandchildren, Rhonda Campbell of VA and Jim Huddleston III of KY; nieces and nephews, Myron Brooks of MS Barbara Reeds of CA, Beverly Thomas of AL and Nancy Bryant of Lawrenceville, GA.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Youngblood officiataing. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will recive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
