Grace Quintrell Postelle (Quintrell)

June 25, 1926 — October 29, 2010

Grace Quintrell Postelle died on October 29, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born on June 25, 1926, to William Henry and Nell Fry Quintrell. She grew up in Fannin County Georgia at Number Twenty Mine as the eldest daughter of a family of six children. As a young woman she supported the war effort by working at Bell Bomber in Marietta as a security escort for visiting dignitaries. After the war, she married Oren Postelle and they settled in Copperhill on Fightingtown Creek. She valued regional history and art and was a charter member of the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association. Even after the devastating flood, Grace took great pleasure from the birds, fish, and beauty of the river. One of her greatest joys was sharing the river habitat with family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Grace was preceded in death by parents William Henry and Nell Fry Quintrell, husband Oren Postelle, and infant son William Quintrell Postelle.

She is survived by daughter Rebekah Postelle Bell and husband Neal Bell of Signal Mountain, TN., and grandchildren Adam Phillip Bell, Cambridge, MA, Sarah Elisabeth Bell McKenna (Sean), Oak Ridge, TN, and Whitney Grace Bell St.Charles (Jesse), Pittsburgh, PA. All of her siblings survive and have been a blessing throughout her entire life. Sisters Doris Q. Abernathy and Sandra Q. Finch (Buddy), and brothers John H. Quintrell (June), Tommy Quintrell (Marjorie), and Roy Quintrell (Helen Marie) carry on.

Grace was a communicant of St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Copperhill. A graveside service will be held on November 5, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Crestlawn Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Claude Y. Stewart of St. Mark's Episcopal Church officiating. Memorial contributions in her honor may be offered to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Copperhill.
