Mr. Hal Herrin, age 87, of Young Harris, GA formerly of Kennesaw, GA, passed away September 6, 2009 at his home.
Hal was born on March 30, 1922 in Barrow Co., GA, to the late Harrold Milford and Annie Stinchcomb Herrin. He was a graduate of Emory University, a WWII U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served in the Merchant Marines prior to joining he Marine Corps. Hal owned the H.M. Herrin and Associates Advertising Agency in Atlanta, GA. He was Vice President of Evelyn Woods Reading Dynamics. He owned and operated Mountain Realty since 1972 until his retirement in 2000. He was former President of North East GA Board of Realtors. Hal coined the phrase "Enchanted Valley". He was a member of the Towns County Lions Club and Zion United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Margie Herrin of the home sons, Bob & Cecile Herrin of Nicholson, GA, David & Vicki Herrin of Orlando, FL, John & Cindy Herrin of Alpharetta, GA, Mick & Robin Herrin of Hiawassee, GA, Mark Herrin of Young Harris, GA, Will Herrin of Buford, GA, Hal Herrin III of Orlando, FL; daughter, Anne & Jerome Lee of Hiawassee, GA; brother Dr. Van Herrin of Athens, GA, step-son, Tony Castro of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; step-daughter, Anita & James White of Lake City, FL; nineteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, his caregiver, Debbie Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held , September 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. David Berrong and Dr. John Kay officiataing. Pallbearers will be Tyler Moody, Sean Herrin, Michael Herrin, Matthew Herrin, Billy Herrin and John Young. Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will recive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
