Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Harold L. Shuler, age 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Shuler was born in Union County, Georgia, on May 21, 1928, a son of the late Jesse Shuler and Cordie Dyer Shuler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a member and deacon of Choestoe Baptist Church in Blairsville and North Peachtree Baptist Church. Mr. Shuler enjoyed craftsmanship and woodworking. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father and grandfather. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Coyle, Clinton, Clyde, Joe Shuler Allen, and Don.

He is survived by and will be lovingly missed by his wife, Verna Ree Shuler; daughter, Becky Bowie of Lawrenceville, son & daughter-in-law, Dennis and Stacey Shuler of Dacula ; and grandchildren: Bobby Bowie, Blake Shuler, and Becca Shuler.

Funeral services for Mr. Shuler have been scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., in Choestoe Baptist Church, with Rev. Ken Zollinger and Rev. Dick Stillwell officiating. He will be eulogized by a grandson, Blake Shuler. Mr. Shuler's body will lie instate at the church starting at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Bobby Bowie, Blake Shuler, Larry Shuler, Melvin Cook, and Tamer Thompson. The deacons of Choestoe Baptist have been requested to serve as honorary escort to the family, with burial in Choestoe Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Sunday, May 22, from the hours of 6 until 9 p.m.
