Hazel Thomas Cordell

Hazel Corlee Thomas Cordell, age 83 of Morganton, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Union General Hospital. Hazel was born Saturday, April 26, 1924 in Fannin Co. Ga to the late Virgil Patterson and the late Fannie Cornwell Patterson. She was a member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many. She was preceded in death by husband, Hoyt Thomas, husband, James Cordell, brother, Havern Patterson, sisters, Martha Nell Jones and Mazie Payne.

Survivors include: daughter, Linda Sue Womble of Murphy, daughter & son-in-law, Brenda & Ronnie Odom of Morganton, son & daughter-in-law, Lowell & Debbie Thomas of McCaysville, son & daughter-in-law, Elmer & Shirley Thomas of Copperhill, daughter & son-in-law, Donna & Mitchell Ballew of Murphy, son, Wayne Thomas of Morganton, step-son, Harold Mull of Blairsville, step-son & daughter in law, Bob & Chanelle Cordell of Blairsville, step-son & daughter in law, Ray & Judy Cordell of Gainesville, step-daughter, Gail New of Murphy, step-son & daughter in law, Steve & Angie Cordell of Murphy, step-son & daughter in law, Joe & Carolyn Cordell of Murphy, step-daughter & son in law, Lisa & Gene Kephart of Murphy, many grandchildren & great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brother & sister in law, Avery & Lola Patterson of Blue Ridge, sister, Mary Sue Green of Blue Ridge, sister & brother in law, Lassie & Charles Allen of Scottsmoor, Fla., sister & brother in law, Ruth & Arvile Dodson of Conyers, sister & brother in law, Louise & James Allen of Blue Ridge, sister & brother in law, Ruby & Bennie McClure of Blue Ridge.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2:00PM from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jeff Young and Reverend Lee Tanner officiating. Music will be provided by Chip Siller, Matthew Beavers, Luther Thomas and Sally Roberson . Interment will follow in Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Steve Cordell, Gene Kephart, John McClure, Jason McClure, William McClure and Scott Cordell. Honorary pallbearers include: Joe Cordell, Eddie Kernea and Bobby Odom.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Friday, February 22, 6-9 PM.
