Helen Griggs Gilliam

Mrs. Helen Griggs Gilliam, age 81, of McCaysville, GA, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Helen was born Saturday, July 16, 1927 in Fannin County, GA to the late Oscar Charles Griggs Sr. and the late Mary Alice Defoor Griggs. She helped her husband during the 50's and 60's at the Gilliam Bottling Plant in McCaysville, GA, bottling Nu-Grape, Orange Crush and 2-Way. Helen loved gardening and landscaping.
She was preceded in death by husband, Arthur "Junior" Gilliam; brothers, O.C. Griggs, Jr. and George Griggs; sisters, Drucella Painter and Ophelia Galloway.
Survivors include: sister & brother-in-law, Imogene & Edsel Deal of Ducktown, TN, sister & brother-in-law, Ozella & Bob Hellerstedt of Lookout Mtn., TN, sister, Berta Anderson of Epworth, GA, sister-in-law, Dorothy Griggs of McCaysville, GA, sister-in-law, Leah Griggs of Marietta, GA; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 2:00 pm from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Scott Baugh officiating. Interment will follow in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are: nephews, Bobby Hellerstedt, Evan Hellerstedt, Evan Hellerstedt Jr., Brett Deal, Bretton Deal and Pat Holloway.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until time of service at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 30.
The Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
