Helen Haney Arp, age 74, of Murphy, NC moved into her new eternal home in heaven on Saturday, January 23, 2010. She was the wife of the late Hoyt Arp and daughter of Blaine and Lurlie Haney. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was a member of Mt. Liberty Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and varoius other bible studies for 50 years. She retired from H.T. Hackney Company after 30 years of service.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years and her parents, Blaine and Lurlie Haney. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Sitton and husband, Larry, and one grandson, Mark, of Alpharetta, GA; a sister, Joan McDaniel and husband,Kenneth, of Dacula, GA; a Brother, Bill Haney and wife, Terry, of Blairsville, GA; several nieces, nephews; and family friends - Beverly Dockery , Gale Tinney and Glenda Kirkland.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 26, from 6pm-9pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Murphy, NC. The Funeral will be held Wednesday, January 27, 11:00 AM at Mt. Liberty Baptist Church, Murphy NC, interment immediately following at Mt. Liberty Cemetery. Helen will lie in state at Mt. Liberty Baptist Church prior to the service from 10:30 am-11am.
Rev. Warren Golden and Rev. Fred Lunsford will officiate the service with Rev. Eddie Cook at interment and a special reading by Beverly Dockery at the begining of the service. Pallbearers are Bob Anderson, James Collins, Casey Cox, Todd Haney, Max McClure, Ricky Twiggs and honorary, Carl Swanson.
