Herman Climbeth Long

Mr. Herman Climbeth Long, age 89 of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Sunday Morning, Oct. 24, 2010, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Long was born in Fannin, GA to the late Monroe and Elizabeth Wilkins Long. He was a member and a deacon of the Big Creek Baptist Church where he served the Lord for over 65 years. He had retired from the US Forest Service in 1986 after 28 years of service, he owned and operated Toccoa Valley Camp Ground. During his life time Mr. Long had also worked as a farmer, bee keeper and a saw miller.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Kyle Rogers.
Survivors include: wife of 68 years, Lois Nell Stanley Long, daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Lyle Scruggs of Blue Ridge, son and daughter-in-law, Gerald C. and Annette P. Long of Cherry log, son and daughter-in-law, Merle and Lesia Long of Helen, daughter and son-in-law, Regina L and Ray L. Golden of Blue Ridge, son and daughter-in-law, Freddy A. and Antia G. Long of Duck River, TN, sister, Willanell Gray of Blue Ridge, grandchildren, Chandler Merle Long, Brent Ashley Long, Derek Philip Long, Tara Aletha Loudermilk, Heather Annette Long, Joshua B. Golden, Aly L. Ethington, Shane Rogers, Casey Rogers, Mikaela Long and Devin A. Long and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of the Henry Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Mashburn & Rev. Max Curtis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Chandler Merle Long, Brent Long, Derek Long, Joshua Golden, Shane Rogers, Casey Rogers and Devin Long.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, 5 till 9PM
