J. R. Ramsey

Mr. J. R. Ramsey, age 87 of Copperhill, TN, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Memorial Health Care System in Chattanooga, TN. Mr. Ramsey was born November 27, 1923, in Wright City, MO to Claude Ramsey and Lorene Shaner Ramsey. J.R. was of the Methodist Faith. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and retired as a mining engineer from Occidental Petroleum in 1979, after 30 years of service. At the age of 80, he returned to work as a consultant for Glenn Springs Holding for a period of five years. J.R. enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Claudine Boswell.

Survivors include: wife, Julia Ramsey of the home; one son, Jason S. Ramsey of Cleveland TN, and sister Mary Dixion of Ft. Scott, KS.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Visitaion for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.
