James Clark Lambert

September 24, 1929 — August 17, 2015

James Clark Lambert, age 85, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2015 , at his residence.

James was born Sept. 24, 1929 in Bridgewater, VA to late James Clark Lambert and Lettie Murphy Lambert. James is also preceded in death by is wife Gerry Conway Lambert and 7 siblings.

He is survived by one sister, Vera Moore of Harrisonburg, VA, two children, Jim Lambert, Jr. and wife, Pat of Murphy and Leslie Lambert Wade and husband, Larry of Gainesville, GA. He has 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

In 1947, Jim joined the USMC. During his service to our country, he served on the U.S.S. Huntington as Marine Attachment and then serving on the U.S.S. Randal during the Korean War. Jim was honorably discharged in 1952.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Jim and his wife, Gerry, moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina in 1966 to start up the manufacturing department know as Clifton Precision machine shop division. Jim, like his wife, was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. When not visiting or celebrating with his family, Jim enjoyed time spent with his many friends. After retiring with 35 years from Clifton, Jim could be found frequenting flea markets with his wife or enjoying a round of golf at the local course. Throughout the years and before the Internet, Jim communicated with friends around the world through his ham radio operation. In his later years, Jim used his skills as tool and die maker to repair mechanical objects, especially clocks. Truly, another man's junk was his treasure.

Jim, with his big smile, was admired, respected and well-loved by his family, friends and co workers. He will be remembered for his many acts of generosity and kindness.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 23rd from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home in Peachtree with a military graveside service immediately following at Green Lawn Cemetery.
