The Cochran Funeral Home Of Murphy Announces services for
James Doyle Graves, 72, of Murphy, passed away Friday, December 19th, at his home after an extended illness.
Doyle was a lifelong residence of Cherokee County, the son of the late Fred Henry Graves and Ora Irene Graham Graves. He was a retired electrician having worked with the Tennessee Chemical Company and TVA for a number of years. He was a member and deacon at Mount Moriah Baptist Church where he recently received recognition for serving as a deacon for 32 years. Doyle was a loving husband, father and wonderful "Papaw" to his grandson, Isaac. Doyle loved farming, gardening, fishing and watching racing.
In addition to his parents, Doyle was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Ann Graves and Mozelle Graves Hamby, and his brother, William Jackie Graves.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue Wallace Graves, two daughters, Malinda Kay Graves of Asheville, and Tammy Renee Graves Davis, her husband, Terry L. Davis, and grandson, Isaac T. Davis of Leicester. He is also survived by his brother in law, Thurman Hamby, his family and his sister in law, Ann Graves and her family, Aunt, Georgia Mae Eller and husband Willie of Turtletown, TN.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 21st , at Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy, 4334 East US 64 Alternate, Murphy, NC, with the Revs. Calvin Murphy and Jerry Morrow officiating. Music will be provided by the Wilson Family from Brasstown, NC.
Interment will follow in the Mount. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Justin Garmon, Adam Garmon, Randall Hamby, Lucas Ryan, Neal Murphy, Joseph Crowe.. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hamby, Tom Stiles, Jamie Ryan, Randy Denton and Ned Loudermilk

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30pm until 2:00pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Linda Fowler 1032 Marrestop Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
