James W. Richards

Mr. James W. Richards, age 67 of Morganton, passed away February 11, 2013. James was born October 23, 1945 in the Hemp Community of Fannin Co., GA to the late Jessie J. Richards and the late Ruth Irene Jones Richards. He attended Bethel United Methodist Church with his family and is still a member. James was a 1965 E. Fannin High School graduate. Following graduation he began working with Cochran's Service Station, then GA Boot Co quickly followed by a 20+ year career with the Tennessee Copper Co in the smelter dept. After retiring James was a cattle farmer. He enjoyed buying and selling cattle for years. In his pass time he liked riding horses and attending horse shows.

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Lesa Johnson, daughter, Dana Richards, brother, Robert Richards, sister, Marie Richards McClure, grandson, Noah Johnson, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Morton officiating. Interment will follow in Hemptown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Don Rogers, Robert McClure, Steve Ross, & Luke Ross. Honorary pallbearers are former employees of TN Chemical's Smelters Dept., Ronnie Thomas, Travis Holden, Troy Wheeler, Jerry Lord, & Mark Wright.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 12:00pm until service at 2:00 pm.

Family has requested donations be made in honor of James to the Hemptown Cemetery Fund at 10623 Old Hwy. 76, Morganton, Ga 30560 in lieu of flowers.
