Jane Killebrew

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Elizabeth Jane Carson Killebrew, age 88, of Blairsville, GA, who passed away after an extended illness early Saturday, November 26, at the Union County Nursing Home. Jane was the daughter of the late Robert Cary Carson and the late Opal Ann Miller Carson of Fort Worth, Texas. Her brother, Robert C. Carson, Jr., preceded her in death in January 2013.

Jane was born October 27, 1928, in Fort Worth, Texas, and attended public schools there, graduating from Arlington Heights High School in 1946. She graduated in 1950 from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, majoring in English and Elementary Education. She taught 2nd grade in Fort Worth for one year and then set her teaching career aside to begin her family. Jane later became the Director of the ABC Nursery School at the First Baptist Church of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and served in that position for 10 years.

Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville, GA, for the last 22 years. She was active in Sunday School, Adult Choirs, Women on Mission, and Children's Choirs. Her husband's career had allowed her to live in Texas, Nebraska, Idaho, Mississippi, and Illinois. They retired to Blairsville in 1994.

Jane is remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, always thoughtful and kind, cheerful and optimistic. She cared deeply about people and prayed for them to know the love of God, demonstrated in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

She was a loyal Baylor Bear, happily married for 66 years to John G. Killebrew, a loyal Texas Aggie. The had three children: John G. Killebrew III (Lorena) of Carpentersville, IL; Emily Griesinger (Don) of Glendora, CA; and Elizabeth Amy Ramirez, of Colorado Springs, CO.

Also surviving are grandchildren and great grandchildren: Grandchildren: Theresa Markham (Michael), Brianna Gardner (Glenn), Jonathan Karinski, Emily Kathleen Karinski, Nicole Alexandra Manikowski, Delanie Elizabeth Kordah (Lekpea), Matthew Joseph Nahas, Bridget Ann Nahas, Kyle David Hursey, and Kody James Hursey. Great Grandchildren: Gracie, Tyler, Giovanni, Sara, Ethan, Sofia, Isabel, Jeremiah, Daliah, Jacob, J.R., Payton, Logan, and Jacob. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., to be held at First Baptist Church of Blairsville, with Dr. Fred Lodge and Rev. Roy Bateman officiating. Burial will follow in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: C.W. Johnson, Billy Decker, Joe Fair, Jim Allison, Hoyt Raper, and Doug Davenport. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
