JoAnne K. Morris

March 18, 1939 — April 22, 2021

JoAnne Kathleen Morris, age 82, of 58 River Pointe, Blairsville, passed away on April 22nd, 2021, following an extended illness. She was born on March 18th, 1939 to the late Thomas and Mary Shemasek in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and pet lover. She met and married her soul mate, Jim Morris in Miami Beach, Florida in 1960. They dreamed of travel and boy, did they ever! In 1971, they packed her old accordian case and went to 11 countries, without a reservation. Many trips followed; some with their sons, some with Jim's parents. Always with lots of walking and picnic lunches. In later years they enjoyed cruises with Ft. Myers' friends. Joanne loved camping and volunteering at State and National Parks.

They built a cabin on Lake Nottley in 1992; and spent 12 winters in Key West and Ft. Myers, Florida.

Joanne was an Administrative Secretary, and held interesting jobs at the University of Miami, Head of Pathology at Memorial Medical Center, Savannah, Georgia, and Americus and Sumter County Chamber of Commerce (while Jimmy Carter was President). She would take reporters out to the "Pond House" to interview Miss Lillian (Jimmy's mother).

She walked daily with the Lord, and attended the House of Prayer Church. She loved her pet dogs, reading and trading books with friends, cooking, and shopping at Trash and Treasure.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years; sons, Thomas and Patrick of Savannah, Georgia; and granddaughters, Karaline and Kate, and 1 great grandson, Knox.
