Mr. John Edward Martin, Jr. age 75 of Morganton, GA passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Select Specialty Care Hospital within Emory Midtown in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Martin was born January 12, 1938 in Albany, GA to the late John Edward Martin, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Stipe Martin. Mr. Martin was an Army and Air Force reservist, and the second generation owner of Ace Refrigeration Service in both Albany, GA and Morganton, GA. He was a charter member and deacon of Sherwood Baptist Church of Albany, GA and later a member and served as deacon of the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge, GA He was known for his exceptional work ethic and problem solving skills as no challenge was too great. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others with a smile on his face. Mr. Martin was an active school board member of Deefield-Windsor School for 13 years.

Survivors include loving wife, "Sally" Smith Martin, son, Jon "Scott" (Wendy Gayle) Martin, daughter, Dana Lynn (Christopher Heath) Day, sister, Mary Louise (Michael) Savery, grandchildren, William Scott Martin, Jacob Lane Martin, Kevin D'Wayne Price, Loren Réné Price, Aubrey Lynn McCrary, John Matthew McCrary, Kinsley Charlize Day, and great-grandson, Beckett Ryder Price.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home in Blue Ridge, GA with son Scott Martin and friend Bill McDonald officiating. Music provided by Emily Carey. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Floral Memory Gardens in Albany, GA with Rev. Tony Haefs officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, September 18, 2013 after the service until 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House, 1815 Ponce de Leon Ave., Atlanta GA 30307, 404-377-6333.
