Joseph Hilton Upton

Joseph Hilton Upton, age 75, of Murphy, NC, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at his home.Mr. Upton was born Monday, July 27, 1931 in Colquitt County, Georgia, to the late John William Upton and the late Irene Schwall Upton. Mr. Upton retired after forty-two years from the Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill. He was a US Navy veteran of The Korean War, and served through Nov. of 1954. Mr. Upton was of the Methodist faith, and he loved working around the house, and could fix about anything., He was preceded in death by son, Wesley Alan Upton, and a brother, John William "Bill" Upton.

Survivors include: wife, Marlene Painter Upton; sons, Joseph Wayne Upton and Charles Harden Upton, both of Kinston, NC; sister, Kaye U. Bannister of Moultrie, Georgia; 1 granddaughter.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Murphy. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
