Laverne Payne

Mrs. Lavern Murray Payne, age 73, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Payne was born Wednesday, November 29, 1933 in Appling County, Georgia to the late Otis Murray and the late Adel Campbell Murray. A member of New Union Baptist Church, she lived most of her life in Blairsville.

Survivors include her loving husband, Herol Payne of Blairsville; son, Michael Herol Payne of Blairsville and son, Marty Payne of Blairsville; grandchildren: Scott Payne, Lena Payne, Grayson Payne, Irenee Payne, and Noah Payne; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2007 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Harrison Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery . Serving as pallbearers are the following gentlemen: Sonny Freeman, Terry Legg, Scott Payne, Grayson Payne, Joel Payne, Ronnie Murray. Honorary pallbearers include the following gentlemen: Jody Payne, Jesse Payne, Jeff Payne.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Thursday, June 28.
