Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death and graveside services for Mrs. Lena Bell (Nichols) Henson, age 92, of Hiawassee, who passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, at the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.
On November 11, 1927, Mrs. Henson was born in Habersham County to the late Ernest and Maud (Lyons) Nichols. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Lena was a homemaker and an avid gardener, who loved flowers, and enjoyed sewing. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Henson; sisters, Suti Nichols and Margie Lee.
Survivors include her son, Louis Henson of Newnan, GA and daughter, Angela (Roy) Barrett of Blairsville, GA; a brother, Louie Nichols of Hayesville, NC; two sisters, Frances Richardson of Buford, GA and Shirley Clayton of Zephryhills, FL; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Brandy) Henson, Nicholas (Melissa) Henson, and Greg (Sherry) Barrett; and six great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services: Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 1:00 pm from the Osborn Cemetery in Hiawassee, GA, with Rev. Larry Hedden officiating. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Stanley Richardson, Jeremy Henson, Nicholas Henson, Tim Clayton, Tony Clayton, and Jack Henson.
