Mrs. Lou Ellen Stalcup, age 70 of Murphy, passed away January 24, 2015 at Mission St. Joseph Hospital. Mrs. Stalcup was born July 12, 1944 in Clay Co., NC to the late Deman Cothren and the late Eva Ledford Cothren. She was a member of Little Brasstown Baptist Church. She was a department manager at Walmart for 30 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by husband, Lloyd "Buzz" Alexander Stalcup, father, Deman Cothren, mother, Eva Ledford Cothren and sister, Margaret Franklin.

Survivors include: son, Brian Gentry, brother, Robert Cothren, sister, Terry Ex, sister, Lilly Lancaster, brother, James Cothren, brother, Doug Cothren, brother, Ronnie Cothren, sister, Sarah Stalcup and, many nieces and nephews,.

Funeral services: Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy with the Rev Aud Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Old Martins Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ricky Lancaster, David Lancaster, Jerod Brown, Daniel Stalcup, Dean Franklin, Merlin Ledford and Dillon Curtis.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy, Tuesday, January 27, 2015, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
