Loureita Nicholson Shook

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Loureita Nicholson Shook, age 82 of Hiawassee who passed away on May 4, 2016.

Loureita was born in Hiawassee, Georgia on March 11, 1934 to the late Luther Verlin & Bessie (Chastain) Nicholson. Loureita loved to garden, loved to work in her flowers, walked virtually every day (weather permitting) She loved her family and her children and they loved her. As with all good mountain people, she saw hard times, but as long as her family was well, she counted herself very blessed by God.

She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: sons, Mark Shook and Clinton Shook; brothers, Ollie Dee Nicholson, Delton Nicholson, and Logan Nicholson; sisters, Lea Burleson and Rhea Vanderbilt; grandchildren, Joey Shook, Kristy Dyer, Justin Shook,Josh Shook, Blake Shook, and Cynthia Dyer; and great grandchildren, Olivia Davenport, Emma Dyer, and Aizlyn Shook. Also, sharing in her legacy are several nieces and nephews. Loureita was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Shook; her sons, Keith Shook and Dwight Shook; and her parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Burch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
