Margaret Avampato Smith

Margaret Mary Smith, age 79 of Murphy, passed away July 22, 2017 in Murphy, NC. Mrs. Smith was born December 9, 1937 in Connecticut to the late Jack Avampato and the late Margaret Ellis Avampato, and was a longtime resident of Lake Worth, FL. A member of the St. William Catholic Church of Murphy, NC, Mrs. Smith retired from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Lake Worth, FL as a P.E. teacher and taught Tai Chi at the Wellness Center in Murphy, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, G. T. Smith, and her parents, Jack and Margaret Avampato.

Survivors include: daughter, Debra (John) Murnan, sons, Randy (Mishelle) Smith, Glenn (Liza) Smith, Greg (Sara) Smith, brother, John (Jean) Avampato, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services: Friday, August 4, 2017 at 5:00 pm at the St. William Catholic Church with the Fr. Alex officiating. Interment: Epworth First Baptist Church Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Logan's Run Rescue Center.
