The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Margaret M. Whitehead, age 92, of Hiawassee, Georgia, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2016, in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.

Mrs. Whitehead was born in Leighton, Alabama to late Ira and Beulah Cupp on April 23, 1922. She was married to the late William Whitehead and was a loyal, loving wife and a good step-mother to William's children: Willard, Sandy, and Loretta. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her grandchildren.

Before Margaret moved into Chatuge Nursing Home, she could be seen at the Hardee's, here in Hiawassee, enjoying breakfast with her friends on most mornings...and then at McDonald's for lunch. She loved sharing her smile with anyone who came into contact with her. She had a great many friends and will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.

Survivors include: brother, William Cupp; son-in-law, Kenneth Jenkins; grandchildren, Pamela, Tammy, William, and Cynthia; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, William E. Whitehead; sisters, Annie Hansard and Rachel Moore; brothers, Earl and James Cupp; step-children, Willard and Sanford Whitehead and Loretta Whitehead Jenkins; and sister-in-law, Sally Cupp.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Dye officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the service begins. Interment will follow at Laurel Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery.
