Marie Turner Chambers, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 in Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia - a wonderful, Godly mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born to John Burton and Bessie Turner on August 3, 1922, in Union County on Turner Gap. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Carol Marie Montgomery and 7 siblings.
Marie is survived by daughter, Janit McKinney and husband Lewis "Skip"; daughter, Glenda Montgomery and husband Kent; two grandsons, Matthew McKinney and wife Caroline; and Dusty Montgomery; one granddaughter, Lindsey Montgomery Bullock and husband Brett; one great grandson, Wylder McKinney, all of Dacula, Georgia. One surviving brother, Guy B. Turner and three sisters-in-laws: Clyta Turner of Blairsville; Grace Turner of Hemptown, Georgia; and Aleen Turner of Douglasville, Georgia.
Marie had resided in Branan Lodge for the past five years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, and had served her Lord through his church as a teacher, choir member, Sunday School secretary and treasurer. An avid fan of The Gaither Homecoming tapes and TV shows, she cherished Southern Gospel singing. A tremendous prayer warrior has left our family and will be missed more than we can imagine.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home - Blairsville Chapel, with Rev. Michael Soop officiating. Special music will be presented by Steve and Delga Cox, and Carolyn Filer. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Joel Mull, Myron Turner, Charles Turner, Roger Turner, Larry Turner, and Stanley Turner. Burial will be in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The family will meet with friends on Saturday evening, from 5:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m.
