Marvin Henry Hernden

Mr. Marvin Henry Hernden, age 83, of Blairsville, GA passed away September 21, 2009 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. Hernden was born on April 17, 1926 in Lake Worth, FL, to Herman and Fern Stalain Hernden. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County. Mr. Hernden was a U.S. Army veteran of the 94th Infantry Division, and served in the European Theatre. He was a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels Program, and the TULIP program. Mr. Hernden was preceded in death by his
first wife, Bobbie Hernden.

Surviving family members include: his wife, Flora Hernden, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Ellen Hernden; and son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Michelle Hernden, all of Blairsville; grandchildren: Angie Hernden Pollard, Jessica Hernden, Ashley Harris; great grandchildren: Isabella Pollard, Emma Pollard, Michael Rinker, and Zoey Hernden.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Union County, with Rev. Ben Lewis officiating. The body will lie instate at the church beginning at 1:30 p.m. Special music will be presented by Jeff Baumann, and Keith DeFoor. Burial will be in Choestoe Cemetery, with military honors presented by North Georgia Honor Guard. Visitation at the funeral home will begin after 11 am on Thursday, September 24, 2009; with the family especially meeting with friends on Thursday evening, from 6 until 9 p.m.
